Love is to Suffer

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV). The greatest accomplishment you can have in this lifetime is to love. Why? Because when the disciples asked Jesus what the greatest commandments were He responded that, “…‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:37-39 NKJV). The greatest task we can ever set ourselves on when on this earth is to love God and to love each other. But the reality hits that it is very hard and difficult to love another person. When I was belovedosing my now husband I thought that I knew all about love and that I would be the perfect loving wife because of the intense feelings of attraction I have towards him. Well after I said ‘I do’ and landed in a flat in Glasgow hundreds of miles away from anybody I had e...

Humbled yourself, or Let Life Humble you.

There seems to be two clear choices in life: humble yourself or let life humble you. Most of the time due to people’s prideful nature life seems to humble us through hard and painful experiences. However, at times these painful and hard experiences that God allows us to go through to humble us, build our character, grow our faith, and teach us important lessons can also cause our hearts to harden and bitterness to sprout from within. This all stems from that pride deep in our hearts, but the danger is that “Pride goeth before destruction, And an haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18 KJV). Pride will always lead to our downfall and destruction. When you walk with pride in your relationships they will break. When you walk with pride in your business it will be unsuccessful. When you walk with pride in your education you will fail. When you walk with pride in your ministry it will be destroyed. To walk the path of pride is to follow satan because “The fear of the Lord is hatred o...

Introducing

I want my first post to be an introductory post into the motive behind this new adventure. But I want this blog to be as little about myself as the author as possible. My aim is for my life to be an introduction to others to Jesus Christ and not to me, Bethany May Eganda Achom. However, it is important to have some brief knowledge of who I am if you want to continue reading this blog, to understand the journey on how I got on this exciting path in life to use my calling to honour and glorify my Lord and Saviour. My name is Bethany, and I was raised with my brother on the back of a sheep and fruit farm in East Sussex, England, the home of my father and with my mother from Johannesburg, South Africa. Twenty-five years later I am now newly married to a wonderful man of God born in Uganda and raised in London, that I met through my beautiful church. We live in the city of Glasgow, Scotland, in a two-bedroom apartment as we embark on our new life as a family together. My husband is p...
